German Apple Cake Recipe
This is one of my late aunts' recipes. My mom's sisters were all good cake bakers. It is a good hearty, moist cake and very easy to make. A touch of cinnamon would also be good in this . Enjoy!
Grandma Goulden's German Apple Cake
3 c. flour 2 c sugar
2 tsp soda 3eggs, beaten
1 tsp salt 1 c chopped nuts
1 1/3 c. oil 2 tsp vanilla
3 c coarsely chopped apples
Sift together flour, soda and salt. Mix oil, apples, sugar, eggs, nuts and vanilla in a large bowl.
Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix well. Bake in a 9x13 inch pan. Bake at 325 degrees
for 1 hour. Do not preheat oven, start in a cold oven. Sprinkle with powdered sugar while warm.
