Heather's Sausage and Dried Cherry or Cranberry Stuffing

1 lb Cooked Sausage
1 cup melted Butter or Margarine
1/2 of a large onion, chopped
4 stalks of celery, chopped
12 cups bread cubes
2 Tbs. parsley flakes
1 1/2 tsp poultry seasoning
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/2 - 1 cup hot water
1 tsp chicken flavor base
dried cranberries or cherries
1 large red apple, chopped
 
Saute onions and celery  in a large pot.
In a large bowl, toss bread cubes, parsley, black pepper and poultry
seasoning.  Mix with sauted onions and celery. Toss until lightly browned.
Add sausage, cherries or cranberries and chopped apple to pot.  Dissolve
flavor base in hot water and add to stuffing.
Bake in a covered casserole dish at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
